President and CEO of VMIX Mike Glickenhaus said VMIX is fast becoming one of a handful of online-video solution providers separating themselves from other providers in the market. The company was one of just six platforms included in a recent Forrester study on online-video platform providers in the US.
"Among other commendations in the report, we were recognized as one of the strongest performers in our industry," said Mike. "Adding seasoned experts to our Sales team further solidifies VMIX's standing and readies the company as a whole to take a large step towards meeting the emerging needs of our clients." VMIX, a leading video and digital media platform provider, today announced that South Carolina ad agency and reseller partner Fuel Interactive is using VMIX video players and widgets to power online video on more than 30 tourism-related sites based in that state.
"Fuel Interactive had two key requirements - to deliver high-quality video, and to make implementation and maintenance for all of their customer sites as simple as possible," said Dan Charleston, Senior VP of Business Development at VMIX.
"The flexibility of our players and widgets makes it easy for Fuel to customize the video experience on each of these sites. And the simplicity of the VMIX workflow and management tools allows site administrators to publish media with very little guidance post-launch."
Fuel Interactive says that the sites, for businesses based in the Myrtle Beach and Charleston areas, range from local broadcast news and publishing sites to golf vacation and resort properties. As a reseller partner, Fuel is able to customize standardized VMIX players and media widgets to blend seamlessly with the design and styling of each site, which allows them to easily add video and meet the varying requirements of their clients.
"For some of these sites, we needed to focus on engaging visitors and building online readership," said Will McIntosh, CEO at Fuel Interactive. "Adding crisp, high-quality video extends the length of user sessions, encourages interaction in the form of video comments and ratings, and ultimately drives resort and golf reservations, as we have seen on several properties like Myrtle Beach Hotels (www.myrtlebeachhotels.com) and On the Green Magazine (www.onthegreenmagazine.com). "If you can see the layout of the course and the breeze in the trees on the green from the perspective of someone walking it, you can imagine yourself there."
McIntosh also noted that some sites are using VMIX technology designed to encourage a sense of community. In addition to using video widgets to deliver US and world news, WLCN TV (www.wlcntv.com), for example, had Fuel add the capability for viewers to submit their own stories, photos and video clips to expand their local news coverage.
"VMIX widgets and upload forms make it easy for website publishers to add this kind of capability," said Dan Charleston. "Building up user engagement and interaction has never been easier."

VMIX, a leading online video platform provider, today announced a program to offer customers of Maven Networks (www.maven.net) the opportunity to migrate hosting and delivery of their media to the VMIX platform without any transfer or setup fees.
The statement came after Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO) announced Monday that they will no longer support Maven's video platform and contracts, starting 2010, as reported in TechCrunch and later confirmed by Yahoo!. Yahoo! acquired Maven Networks, a player in the video distribution and advertising software arena, in February 2008.
"We know this may be a stressful time for Maven customers, who may be running with fewer staff," said Mike Glickenhaus, CEO at VMIX. "But we also know we can get them up and running well before the end of the year. And so we are waiving the usual consultation, setup and media transfer fees - which can be a substantial cost."
More information about the VMIX migration program for Maven customers is available online at:
http://www.vmix.com/switch-from-maven
Glickenhaus added that VMIX has considerable experience supporting customers needing to migrate from other services, including Maven. "We know the Maven toolset well. We built our platform with a focus on easy-to-use tools and flexible advertising options, and we believe customers will find transition from Maven to the VMIX platform relatively easy and hassle-free."

VMIX, a leader in delivering online digital media, today announced they signed an expanded agreement with Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM) to provide dynamic streaming and enhanced streaming security to the VMIX customer base.
The agreement secures Akamai's globally-distributed distribution platform as the primary delivery service for VMIX's growing base of media, enterprise and non-profit clients.
"What we have seen with Akamai is a consistent focus on adopting cutting-edge technology as part of their commitment to a superior user experience," said Greg Kostello, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at VMIX. "Through our close relationship and involvement in Akamai's early-access programs, we've been able to quickly roll out support for new enhancements to our customers. Upgraded Adobe Flash media support means we can extend the resulting advances to customers delivering live and on-demand video to their desktop and mobile audiences."
Kostello added that the agreement signed today brings significant customer benefits. Tribune Newspapers and Broadcast, McClatchy Newspapers, Scion, Penguin, and Raycom Television all demand fast and reliable worldwide content delivery performance, as well as the security and flexibility of the Akamai Edge Network. VMIX will now offer these and other customers new Akamai solutions that have been integrated with VMIX products including Akamai dynamic streaming and enhanced media stream encryption through Akamai's support for Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5.
Dynamic streaming detects fluctuations in the available bandwidth of users' systems, switching seamlessly between high and low bitrate streams to ensure optimal playback quality and no media buffering or delays. This solution enables delivery of a true High Definition (HD) Internet experience for users whose local environments can support it, while offering a dynamic, buffer-free experience that delivers the best picture quality possible when conditions are less than ideal. Enhanced stream encryption adds greater security and high-definition video stream protection. These and related enhancements are made possible by VMIX's rapid integration of recent service upgrades from Akamai.
"As a partner that prides itself on delivering an exceptional user experience, Akamai is looking forward to rolling out these capabilities to VMIX customers," said Tim Napoleon, Chief Strategist for Digital Media at Akamai. "Delivering a high-quality streaming experience can be challenging for content owners and publishers. Our research shows that offering HD video is mission critical for organizations to stay competitive and maximize revenue streams. That can be hard to do when the processing power of users' systems varies greatly or network conditions are less than ideal. The Akamai dynamic streaming solution VMIX now offers enables the best possible experience for all users."

"Building on our platform's open design, Scion extended its existing framework to quickly build out a new customer site that embodies its creative lifestyle," said Mike Glickenhaus, President and CEO of VMIX.
Glickenhaus added that the lifestyle relevant to Scion buyers results in a site with multiple music channels, dynamic video and a graphic-rich design. "That kind of load requires a back-end system that can hold up. Our platform is designed to carry streaming media, so it was perfect for supporting the environment that Scion needed to create."
"The goal of ScionAV.com is to deliver the kind of original art, film and music that have resonated so well at our live events," said Jeri Yoshizu, Scion sales promotions manager. "Merging our existing web infrastructure with out-of-the-box VMIX capabilities has made delivering media to our online audience just so much easier."
With the brand's launch in 2003, Scion redefined how companies connect with their customers. Producing free live concerts, showcasing emerging artists and embracing its owners, the Scion continues to stay in touch with young tastemakers.
Yoshizu added that the integration with VMIX allows Scion to bring users together across the country. "Our marketing partners can now upload footage remotely from live events and our customers can experience ScionAV.com wherever they are - from their laptops, on their phones, in their cars."

VMIX, a leading provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) video and digital media management solutions, announces it is launching a channel program designed to generate ongoing SaaS income for resellers serving the mid-size market and on up. A SaaS solution like VMIX is perfect for an economy where their customers are gravitating toward products that can increase their efficiencies. We can give resellers a state-of-the-art video solution that meets all of today's needs as well as their needs for the future," said Mike Glickenhaus, president and CEO of VMIX.
