VMIX, a leading provider of media management software and services for online publishers, today named Mike Glickenhaus President and Chief Executive Officer. Glickenhaus was recruited by VMIX Chairman of the Board and co-founder Greg Kostello, who will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer.
"We are delighted to bring in executive talent like Mike who can lead us into our next wave of growth," said Kostello.
As CEO, Glickenhaus brings 27 years of senior management experience in broadcasting and publishing as the company seeks to expand its reach.

VMIX announced today that it is replacing its VMIX.COM community site with a website that better represents the company's technology and service offerings.
"This is nothing new for us," said CEO Greg Kostello. "VMIX is an established leader in providing media-management and community platforms. We build products that support over 200 media, publishing and broadcast websites. We're simply changing our own website to reflect that focus."
Later this year, the company plans to launch VMIX Marketplace, a premium service that will offer original content to website publishers and allow content producers the ability to reach over 50 million uniques per month. For more information, contact helpdesk@vmix.com.

As a sign of its success, VMIX raised $16.5 million last week. The investors include JK&B Capital, ATA Ventures, Mission Ventures and Enterprise Partners.
VMIX has built a rich media platform, which allows for not only videos, but also blogs, slide shows, and even social networking. "We focus on technology," said Kostello, "And our customers focus on what they are good at. That is, creating great content."

VMIX, the leading interactive media, video and social networking company, today announced the closing of a $16.5 million equity financing.
New investors JK&B Capital and ATA Ventures joined existing investors Mission Ventures and Enterprise Partners in this round. The funding will be applied to extending the company's lead in supplying the VMIX CORE software platform to companies and organizations across the globe.

Combining user-generated content with commercial content, VMIX lets videographers upload promo videos for their clients as well as their own creative content.
San Diego's Jim Staylor of Staylor-Made Productions uses VMIX to market his $29.95 instructional DVD, How to Keep Your Do-It-Yourself-Video from Looking Like You Did It Yourself. He has ten clips ranging from 30 to 60 seconds in length that correspond to chapters on the DVD. He created a channel on VMIX that lets users view the clips sequentially or in any order they wish. About two weeks after Staylor posted these promo clips to VMIX, he sold 14 copies of his DVD to one customer. In addition to the income he gets from selling his instructional DVDs, the expert cachet he's accrued has encouraged clients to hire him for video productions.

Television station owners have discovered the Web and are now trying to reinvent themselves as sexy, local online advertising plays.
Not to be outdone, local TV owner LIN TV, which owns 29 stations nationwide, announced a partnership on Wednesday with VMIX, a privately held online video hosting company. VMIX will help LIN TV set up user-generated videos, photos blogs and other local community content on the Web sites for all of the company’s stations.

Papers to let visitors post content online
A key feature to VMIX's platform is a filtering system that blocks pornography, obscenities and unauthorized copyrighted material from being posted by users on the newspapers' Web sites. Kostello said VMIX is paid a license fee and also is paid based on usage. He declined to say how much the company expects to make from the service.
