Audio from a Zoom Meeting may still be heard on a system even when vMix is muted

When using the Zoom Input feature, vMix starts a hidden copy of the Zoom Meeting app behind the scenes.
vMix mutes this app to prevent duplicated audio, but in some cases this may not be successful, especially on systems with multiple audio outputs.

To resolve this, follow the steps below:

Step 1

Right click Speaker icon at the bottom right hand corner of Windows and select Open Volume Mixer.

Step 2

Check that vMixZoomNode is muted as shown below.

Step 3

Under the Device column, select each device in the list one by one as shown below and check these are also muted for vMixZoomNode
